They will be based in the School of Engineering at Birmingham but work closely with colleagues in Chemistry and other schools here as well as our international collaborators. SUPERVISOR: Dr Yueting Sun received a dual bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering and Economics from Tsinghua University in 2010, followed by a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Tsinghua in 2015. He visited the University of California, San Diego as a research assistant in 2013-14, and held the KC Wong Fellowship at the University of Oxford in 2016-18 and a brief postdoc before he moved to Birmingham in Dec 2019 to take up the Lecturer position (UK Assistant Professor). Yueting was awarded the prestigious UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship to pioneer the field of nanofluidic energy absorption of MOFs.

Our research is highly interdisciplinary, so we invite applications from candidates across all relevant areas, including but not limited to:
•        Chemistry: Nanoporous Material Synthesis (MOFs, COFs, zeolites, polymer, silica), Crystallography, Mechanochemistry
•        Physics: Nanofluidics (nanoscale water), Molecular Dynamics, Thermodynamics
•        Materials: Colloids (nanofluid), Gel, Polymer
•        Mechanics: Solid Mechanics, Rheology, Impact Mechanics, Vibration, Dynamics, Acoustics
•        Engineering: Mechanical Design, Mechatronics, Energy Sustainability
