项目简介:
风能产业正快速发展,并有望成为电力市场的重要组成部分。随着风机与风电场规模持续增大,其与大气流动的相互作用呈现双向耦合特征,涉及中尺度(meso-scale)与微尺度(micro-scale)的耦合过程。
本博士项目将围绕开发 CFD 能力展开,用于模拟跨越大气边界层多个层结的大型风机在复杂环境中的运行,例如深远海区域浮式平台上的风机。博士生将与团队成员协作,推进流场建模与分析,并服务于风电场布局优化与运行优化的研究与开发。

申请条件:
-机械工程或相关专业硕士学位(或同等学历)(必需)
-至少精通一门编程语言(必需);熟悉 Fortran、C++ 者优先
-具备扎实的 偏微分方程与常微分方程基础(必需)
-对 GPU 计算与高性能计算(HPC)有强烈兴趣(加分/优先)
-具备团队合作意愿,并愿意赴以色列交流学习(必需)
-良好的沟通能力与英语能力(必需)
-能撰写科研报告并参与(共同)发表学术论文(必需)

Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology - PhD Studentship: Digital Twins for Wind Farm Flows

-Degree: PhD from Technion, Israel
-Location: Shantou, China (primary); Haifa, Israel (2 semesters)
-Funding: Full tuition coverage + generous stipend (per month RMB 7000 in Shantou and $ 2167 in Haifa)

-Advisors: Prof. Vikrant Gupta (Guangdong Technion, China) and TBD (Technion–IIT, Israel)

Project Description:
Wind energy is rapidly growing and is set to become a major player in the electricity market. The growing size of turbines and wind farms means that their interactions with atmospheric flows becomes two-way coupled with meso-scale and micro-scale coupling. The PhD candidate will work on developing CFD capabilities to simulate large wind turbines spanning several layers of the atmospheric boundary layers and operating in complex environment, such as on floating platforms in deep offshore regions. The candidate will work with team members to facilitate flow modelling and analysis towards development of layout and operation optimization of wind farms.

Selection Criteria:
-Master's degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related (essential)
-Strong background in at least one programming language (essential) and fortran, C++ (preferable)
-Strong background in partial differential and ordinary differential equations (essential)
-Strong interest in GPU computations and high-performance computing (desirable)
-Strong interest to work in team, and travel to Israel (essential)
-Good communication skills, good command of English (essential)
-Ability to author scientific reports and co-author scientific publications (essential)
-The candidates must fulfill the requirements for admission to the Technion Graduate School and need to comply with its regulations leading to the PhD/Master degree: https://graduate.technion.ac.il/en/prospective-students/
