The Hao Laboratory in the Division of Cancer Research and Training at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU) is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team. Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science is a private university in Los Angeles, California US. Research at CDU focuses on ways to address health disparities within the state of California, nationally, and globally. Faculty members at CDU conduct ongoing NIH and DoD-funded research on conditions such as cancer, hypertension, diabetes, tobacco use and HIV/AIDs.
Dr. Qiongyu Hao received his Ph.D. from Xiamen University in China. He pursued postdoctoral training at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY, followed by a second postdoctoral fellowship at the New York University School of Medicine. He later joined the Division of Cancer Research and Training at Charles R. Drew University (CDU), where he conducts breast cancer research and was appointed as an Assistant Professor. Currently, Dr. Hao lab focuses on two major research areas: Exosome Biology – Understanding how exosomes function as biological nanovesicles that mediates communication in the tumor microenvironment (TME). Cancer Metabolism-investigating the non-coding RNAs and their role in epigenetic regulation of metabolic abnormalities-associated cancer. Dr. Hao's laboratory utilizes the cutting-edge resources of the RCMI AXIS Research Infrastructure Core, through innovative approaches, aims to uncover novel regulatory mechanisms driving cancer progression and identify potential therapeutic targets.
We are seeking a dedicated and curious scientist with a Ph.D. in molecular biology, cancer biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have experience in cancer signaling, RNA biology, or extracellular vesicle research. Strong analytical and communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to work independently are essential. As a postdoctoral fellow in our lab, you will play a key role in designing and conducting experiments using a range of advanced techniques. You’ll have access to the RCMI AXIS Research Core, which houses cutting-edge technologies such as: Next-generation sequencing (NGS); Super-resolution confocal microscopy; Mass spectrometry; Imaging flow cytometry; Automated imaging and bioinformatics platforms. You’ll be responsible for analyzing data, interpreting results, preparing manuscripts, and presenting findings at national and international scientific meetings. You’ll also have opportunities to contribute to grant proposals and mentor students. As part of our team, you’ll work in a supportive environment that values mentorship, collaboration, and scientific excellence. Our NIH-funded lab provides a solid foundation for postdoctoral fellows seeking to build strong publication records and prepare for independent research careers.
