Junior Expert in Microfinance – China

Mission: PlaNet Finance is an international organization dedicated to the development of microfinance through the provision of technical assistance and consulting services to the microfinance and banking sector.

PlaNet Finance has a Representative Office in Beijing holding several microfinance projects all over China including supporting urban and rural MFIs via technical assistance and helping city commercial banks design downscaling programs. Within the scope of these projects, PlaNet Finance China is seeking a junior expert to participate in the development of the operations. Term: At least 1 year including a trial period; contract may be renewed depending on performance

Location: China

Contract: Local Consultant

·       Must be an extremely motivated, independent and professional individual dedicated to the development of microfinance in China

·       Advanced degree in finance, banking and/or development economics

·       Prior experience in microfinance and/or banking (individual lending methodology) highly desirable; knowledge of SME lending an advantage

·       Strong logical and financial analysis skills

·       Training and/or capacity building and/or consulting experience would be desirable

·       Good communication, interpersonal, presentation and writing skills

·       Confident, self-starter, open-minded, able to work with minimal guidance

·       Highly organized

·       Ability to work under pressure

·       Willing and able to travel and live in different areas, including rural areas, for extended periods of time

·       Advanced computer skills: Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Powerpoint

·       Languages: must be fluent (native) in Chinese; conversational English and at least basic writing and translation skills

Responsibilities:

As a Local Consultant, you will provide technical and practical knowledge in microfinance, such as:

Technical Assistance in Microfinance

·       Assisting to conduct feasibility research for establishing microfinance programs and institutions

·       Assisting to design and develop microfinance lending methodologies and procedures appropriate to the local context

·       Assisting to design training workshops and relevant training materials for all kinds of microfinance participants

·       Assisting to provide technical guidance regarding the implementation of microfinance activities

·       Conducting on-site coaching, consulting and advising for microfinance programs and institutions

·       Providing support to international and domestic experts

Institutional Development

·       Providing support in designing project proposals involving microfinance

·       Assisting in project implementation

Communications and Marketing

·       Conducting marketing and promotion for PlaNet Finance China’s business lines

·       Engaging in outreach to various stakeholders, including (but not limited to) microfinance institutions, public and private donors or investors, government authorities, microfinance networks, media and all kinds of participants within the microfinance sector

·       Maintaining the relationship with partners, customers and others
