全奖博士生 the work will be part of a large project involving several industrial partners and universities with the overarching objective of developing data center unit cooling systems combining energy and thermally efficient electronic cooling approaches, direct-to-chip pumped two-phase and immersion single-phase. the aim of the thesis will be to study how the constructal law of evolutionary design can help us understand efficient two-phase flow configurations for distributed pumping and flow separation based on hierarchical architectures. we will explore the fundamental aspects of two-phase flow in constructal architectures. the work will be theoretical and numerical. the candidate will work in collaboration with the team involved in the experimental part of the project the research plan will consist in the fundamental analysis of two-phase flows, scale analysis of phase change in a dendritic channel, assessment of pressure losses, evolution of the architecture of the network for maximum heat transfer and minimum pressure losses, assessment of thermodynamic losses, scale up from the elemental dendrite to a larger network with multiple heat sources, determination of the scaling rules, analysis of canopy-to-canopy two-phase flow structures. qualifications: • strong academic background in engineering with deep knowledge in heat transfer, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics (master degree preferred but not required). • experience in cfd modelling. • strong written and verbal communication skills • strong work ethics and scientific integrity what to expect • full tuition waiver and competitive stipend • opportunities to develop research collaborations • mentorship in a research-industry environment • support for professional development including publications and conferences how to apply? interested candidates should email their detailed cv, a cover letter with their research interests, contact information for three professional references to sylvie.lorente@villanova.edu villanova university is a private research university that was founded in 1842. villanova is in the suburb area of philadelphia. u.s. news & world report ranks villanova as tied for the 58th best national university in the u.s. for 2024. 美国维拉诺瓦大学（villanova university）是一所私立研究型大学，成立于1842年。学校历史悠久人文底蕴浓厚。在建校的170余年里，学校致力于培养高素质的学生和科研人才，在2024年u.s. news 排名中，维拉诺瓦大学位列全美第58位。不仅如此，学校还拥有得天独厚的地理优势，距美国第五大城市费城市中心仅12英里，开车至纽约时代广场不到2小时，离美国首府华盛顿特区仅需2.5小时车程。学校坐落在宾州最安全和教育程度最高的地区，绿荫如盖的校园为莘莘学子保留了独有的恬静，是诸多学子出国留学的梦萦之地。 |
