Graduate Research Assistant – Robotics and AI

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (https://www.uwyo.edu/eecs/index.html) at the University of Wyoming is seeking a highly motivated individual to join as an MS/Ph.D. student. The incumbent will work primarily in one of the following areas: artificial intelligence (AI), computer vision, robotics, and IoT systems applied towards automation, autonomous robots, and other digital technologies for controlled environment agriculture (CEA). The research will include but is not limited to:

·??????? Design and develop control and manipulation systems for autonomous navigation, optimized path planning, and robotic and automated applications in CEA.

·??????? Implement AI approaches for crop sensing, growth, and stress monitoring and study the plant's interaction with microclimate (temperature, humidity, lights, etc.).

·??????? Develop integrated hardware and software for AI-driven robotic and automation systems in CEA

·??????? Design and implement research studies, collect and analyze data, and assist the group in preparing research results for publication.

·??????? Assist in other projects in the group and writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.

·??????? Presentation (oral and poster) of research results in scientific meetings and conferences.

Required Qualifications:

·??????? BS/MS in Electrical/Software/Mechatronics/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related disciplines.

·??????? Knowledge/Experience with one or more programming languages/libraries (Python, C/C++, OpenCV, ROS, Matlab, etc.)

·??????? Ability to learn/adopt skills and knowledge in solving “real-world” problems.

·??????? Creative and independent research abilities with a spirit of teamwork.

·??????? Good verbal and written communication skills.

·??????? Preference will be given to the candidate with peer-reviewed publications in one of the following areas: Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Embedded Systems, Robotics, Autonomous Systems, Digital Twins, and/or other related technologies.

·??????? Experience working in CEA facilities such as a greenhouse, high-tunnel, plant factory, etc. is preferred.

Stipend: A competitive stipend, tuition fee, and medical benefits will be provided.
