PhD Opportunities for CSC Scholars at the University of Lyon, France

The newly established Laboratory for Clusters and Nanoparticles at the University of Lyon invites motivated Chinese students to pursue their PhD in France through the CSC scholarship program. Our research focuses on understanding new particle formation at the molecular level—one of the most critical atmospheric processes with significant impacts on climate and air quality. We develop advanced mass spectrometry techniques, including ion trap experiments to simulate particle nucleation and collision-based studies, to investigate aerosol nucleation in unprecedented detail.

About Lyon and the University: Lyon is a vibrant city in southeastern France, known for its rich history, renowned cuisine, and dynamic research community. Its strategic location between Paris, the Alps, and the Mediterranean makes it an accessible and exciting place to live, study, and explore. The University of Lyon offers a stimulating research environment with state-of-the-art facilities and numerous opportunities for collaboration within the university and CNRS.

Candidate Profile: We welcome applicants with a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, or related fields who are enthusiastic about working with sophisticated experimental setups. Strong communication skills in English, a team-oriented attitude, and a willingness to learn are essential. Prior experience with mass spectrometry, cluster science, electronics, or vacuum technology is strongly preferred.
