The team led by Professor Matthaiou (IEEE Fellow) at the Centre for Wireless Innovation at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional PhD candidate to work for a US-Ireland Project, in collaboration with Virginia Tech and Trinity College Dublin. This is a 3-year international studentship covering tuition fees and monthly stipend.

The emergence of cell-free massive MIMO in the upcoming sixth generation of wireless communications (6G) entails new challenges in terms of resilience of these configurations. In this project, we will precisely look into this fundamental problem and develop novel performance metrics and optimization tools to better characterize how resilient cell-free massive MIMO is against cyber-attacks, eavesdropping and spoofing attacks. The project will conceive new theory and algorithms and therefore the successful candidate should have strong mathematical background in wireless communications and communications signal processing.
