Antimicrobial Resistant Bacteria and Resistance Genes Job Institution: University of Nebraska-Lincoln Job Description A postdoctoral scholar position is available in Dr. Xu Li’s laboratory in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). The postdoctoral scholar will work on an EPA project, which aims to establish a risk assessment framework for the antimicrobial resistant bacteria and resistance genes in surface water attributable to municipal wastewater and biosolids. The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team with expertise in environmental engineering, environmental microbiology, water resources engineering, and risk assessment. The candidate is also expected to assist in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, preparing proposals, and writing journal publications. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in environmental engineering, environmental microbiology, or a related field of study. Applicants with experience in field sampling, general microbiology, and molecular biology are encouraged to apply. Experience with qPCR and shotgun metagenomics is particularly desirable. The position can start immediately. The initial term of the position is 1 year with the possibility of renewal based on funding and performance.
