PhD Studentship: Predict Turbulence from Sparse Observations
|
|
Degree: PhD from Technion Israel Location: Shantou, China (primary) Haifa, Israel (2 semesters) Funding: Covers tuition + generous stipend Dates: 31/12/2024 (full consideration) 28/02/2025 (closing date) Advisors: Prof. Vikrant Gupta (Guangdong Technion, China) and TBD (Technion - IIT, Israel) Project Description The study of fluid mechanics is undergoing a transformation due to recent advancements in measurement techniques and computational power. Data-driven methods can now be utilised to forecast increasingly complex turbulent flows. However, sparsity of measurements requires knowledge incorporation for predicting practical systems. This project involves using governing equations and model-reduction tools for predicting turbulence from highly sparse observations. The student will work in collaboration with other team members and have access to research facilities at Guangdong Technion and Technion-IIT, Israel. The student will be trained in big data and state-of-the-art computational tools. International students are welcome. The tuition will be fully covered and a generous stipend is offered (per month RMB 7000 in Shantou and $ 2167 in Haifa). The degree is from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, which is among the most reputed universities in the world, and we maintain the same qualification standards at Guangdong Technion. Guangdong Technion is a brainchild of Technion Israel. It is located in the picturesque city of Shantou, which boasts beautiful coastal scenery and has recently emerged as a hub of fast growing wind industry. The city enjoys affordable living and close proximity to international metropolitan hubs of Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Entry Requirements: A very good master’s degree in a relevant discipline (direct track for excellent undergraduates is available). https://sites.gtiit.edu.cn/resea ... /entry-requirement/ How to Apply: Please send your CV and transcripts to Prof. Vikrant Gupta (vikrant.gupta@gtiit.edu.cn) for initial screening (https://sites.gtiit.edu.cn/resea ... dies/how-to-apply/) Contacts: Project details: Prof. Vikrant Gupta, Application process: Ms Shirley Li (rigs@gtiit.edu.cn) 发自小木虫Android客户端 |
