Prof Zheng LIU's group is looking for one PhD candidate for 2025 Spring semester (Ã÷Äê´º¼¾Èëѧ) Requirements: GPA > 80/100£¬GRE>319 and AW¡Ý3.5, TOFEL¡Ý100¡£For more details, refer to this link¡£ 1. Available Research Directions: 1) 2D Material Synthesis: This includes 2D semiconductor materials, 2D superconducting materials, 2D magnetic materials, and 2D ferroelectric materials. Synthesis methods include CVD, MOCVD, CVT, etc. A multiple glovebox platform has been established, allowing material synthesis, characterization, and measurement within the glove box. 2) 2D Electronic Devices: Design and fabricate new semiconductor architectures based on 2D materials, such as in-memory computation NCFET and photonic chips. The group has comprehensive microfabrication and device testing facilities, along with access to three cleanrooms (NTU, NUS, A*STAR). 3) Electrocatalysis and Photocatalysis: Conduct catalytic mechanism research through micro-electrochemical methods and extend to practical applications. This includes micro-electrochemical electrocatalysis experimental methods, micro-electrochemical microfabrication technologies, and real-time micro-electrochemical measurement platforms. The laboratory has established a real-time electrochemical reaction platform based on micro-electrochemistry, capable of conducting electrical/electrochemical/Raman spectroscopy/single-molecule real-time characterization measurements, and high-entropy alloy for catalysis. 4) Machine Learning: Optimize material synthesis methods and parameters using machine learning. Utilize existing materials to achieve neuromorphic computing based on memristor or optical methods. Introduction to Dr. Zheng Liu Dr. Liu Zheng graduated from the School of Physics at Nankai University and is currently a President's Chair Professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University. His main research directions include the synthesis of 2D materials and their applications in electronic devices and energy. He has published over 400 academic papers, with more than 50 papers in Nature and Nature series journals. His research has been widely reported by mainstream media, including People's Daily, Science and Technology Daily, The Straits Times, Nikkei, The New York Times, and others. To date, his total citations exceed 60,000, with an h-index above 120. He was nominated for the World Technology Award in Energy in 2012, awarded the National Foundation Fellowship and Nanyang Assistant Professorship in 2013, received the Singapore President's Young Scientist Award in 2018, the NTU Research Award and ICON-2DMAT Young Scientist Award in the same year, and was named a Distinguished Professor by the Singapore Materials Science Society in 2019. He also won the ACS Nano Rising Stars Lectureship Award in 2020 and the APEC Science Prize in 2023. From 2018 to 2023, he was continuously listed as a Highly Cited Scientist.
