Paul has outlined a program under the theme “Nanoscience: Challenges for the Future.” The program model is similar to the one used at the New Orleans meeting for the Presidential Showcase Event on energy. Paul’s current plans include a Keynote Address and a Plenary Session. Paul also identified five sub-themes. They are nanolithography, nanotoxicology, nanomachines, nanomedicine and nanomaterials/analysis. Each of these subthemes will be presented by an expert in the field during the Plenary Session. The arrangements for the Keynote speaker are not quite complete, but Paul anticipates the presentation will give a broad and forward looking view of nanoscience. Information about the theme and subthemes has been sent to division program chairs to encourage their participation in programming under the theme.
