诚心求助分析博士后申请的导师的回信

大家好,最近想想联系英国的博士后, 下面是所联系的导师的回信,大家帮我分析一下, 有几成的几率, 目前主要是方向不大相同, 也不清楚这是英国人的客气,还是怎么呢? 也不知道我是否他的侯选人之一? 热心的分析有金币奖励, 提前谢谢 I looked over your CV and you certainly have an interesting background. So after you read this email and still think you would be interested in the job, then I would encourage you to apply through the official channels If you do decide to apply, then I would ask you to send me one of your recent papers. This is not part of the official selection process, but it would help me understand a bit better how you work. This postdoc position is strictly linked to a specific research project, namely analysis of atomistic/continuum coupling method for _static_ problems. (I realize the further particulars don't say this explicitly and I apologize for this.) If you want to get a better sense of the kind of research that would be pursued in this, then you could have a look at some of my recent preprints My own expertise is almost exclusively in static problems. Now since you seem to be an expert in dynamics, I would try to take advantage of that and, in case you were offered this position, we could try and develop some related dynamic theories. But you should be aware that the focus of this project is on statics. I assume though that you would also want to continue your own research and that with your collaborators. The arrangement I make with anybody starting a postdoc under my supervision is that in the first few months _at least_ 2/3 of their time must be spent on the specific goals of the project. This is important to get going on new things, but later on this could be relaxed a bit. However, I can tell you in general terms what I would expect in an "optimal" candidate: somebody who is willing (and able!) to learn new ideas, who is not afraid of both rigorous and technical analysis but at the same time will be comfortable with physics and mechanics, who is creative and independent, but at the same time will be able to work with me and my students as a team.
