Department of Communication, Quality Technology and Information Systems

The Department of Communication, Quality Technology and Information Systems operates on both Campus Östersund and Campus Sundsvall. At the department, education and research are conducted in the subjects that fall under the areas of Communication, Quality Technology and Information Systems.

The position is aimed at studies of digitization, societal change and value development in a broad perspective within Forum for Digitization (FODI), an interdisciplinary research environment with specializations in archival and information science, informatics as well as industrial organization and economics. The position will be part of a regional venture at an interdisciplinary research school with a focus on GovTech Challenges where the PhD students, as well as the supervising college, will have a range of different disciplinary backgrounds.

Job duties
The present doctoral project thus focuses on increasing knowledge about the realization of benefits from digital practices in the public sector. The starting point is an increased understanding of the public sector's values and logics in relation to digitization initiatives. Own postgraduate training including research 80% of a full-time position.

Competence
The basic eligibility is for those who have taken an advanced level degree or completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at advanced level or have acquired essentially equivalent knowledge in some other way within or outside the country. Those who have at least 90 higher education credits in information systems (informatics) or in some other way within or outside the country have essentially acquired equivalent knowledge.

Basis of assessment
Great emphasis will be placed on the ability to practice-based studies and understanding of the public sector's starting points as a tax-financed activity, where experience of work in the public sector is meritorious. Especially meritorious is experience in various forms of digitization initiatives. Previous work, such as essays and independent work, will form the basis for assessment, but work experience is also crucial.

Other assessment grounds
The position requires very good knowledge of spoken and written Swedish as well as good knowledge of English.

Handling
The preparation of the employment follows the forms specified in Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance and proceeds in accordance with Mittuniversitet's employment regulations .

Employment and access
The doctoral position refers to a position that corresponds to four years of full-time studies and is expected to lead to a doctoral degree. Access 2024-03-20 or by agreement.
A new employment as a doctoral student is valid for a maximum of one year, the employment may then be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time. Regulations regarding employment as a doctoral student can be found in the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100), ch. 5 §§ 1-7.

Salary: According to Mittuniversitet's salary scale for doctoral students.
