[交流] 香港中文大学激光计量与生物医学实验室博士招生

We have immediate full Ph.D. scholarships in the areas of optical imaging, light microscopy, computational imaging, and label-free bioimaging at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). The admitted students will be enrolled in August 2024 in the Department of Biomedical Engineering Department at CUHK. A four-year full scholarship will be provided to each admitted student with a monthly stipend of >HK$ 18,000 as well as medical insurance. About the PI: Renjie Zhou is an Associate Professor of Department of Biomedical Engineering and Assistant Dean (Research) of Faculty of Engineering at CUHK, where he directs the Laser Metrology and Biomedicine Laboratory (LAMB). He received PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2014 and undertook postdoctoral training at MIT between 2014-2017. His research interest is in developing optical precision instruments for various research and industrial applications. He has published > 100 journal and conference papers and filed over 10US/China patents with several licensed to industry. He has been involved inorganizing > 20 international conferences as co-chairs/committee members, delivered >40 conference invited talks and seminars/colloquiums, and reviewed for >30 international journals. He is currently serving on the editorial boards of JOSA A, IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, and International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing. He is a Senior Member of Optica and SPIE. He received the Croucher Innovation Awards in 2019 from the Croucher Foundation and the Young Scientist Award at PIERS 2023 conference organized by the Electromagnetics Academy.

LAMB lab introduction: The lab has a team of 15 researchers of mainly postdocs and graduate students with disciplines in optics, physics, biology, and computer science. The lab is focused on developing cutting-edge optical imaging technologies, including quantitative phase microscopy, super-resolution microscopy, deep-learning assisted microscopy, optical diffraction tomography, and their applications in biology, medicine, and material testing. The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art instruments and platforms, such as high-precision optical tables, fully automatic light microscopes, supercontinuum laser light source, femtosecond laser source, high speed cameras, digital micromirror devices, spatial light modulators, high-end objective lenses, etc. The lab has established long-term close cooperative relations with many top universities, including Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford,Nanyang Technological University, Zhejiang University, etc.

课题组负责人介绍:周仁杰,香港中文大学生物医学工程学系副教授,工程学院助理院长(研究);OPTICA 与SPIE学会高级会员;对定量相位显微(QPM)与光学衍射层析成像(ODT)进行了系统而深入的研究;近5年荣获裘槎基金会 “裘槎前瞻科研大奖”(2019年)、美国电磁科学院“青年科学家奖” (2023年)等科研奖励。早前于麻省理工学院G. R. Harrison光谱实验室、伊利诺伊大学尔巴纳-香槟分校Beckman 研究所、亚利桑那大学James Wyant光学中心等光学领域世界前沿科研机构从事相关研究工作,期间荣获SPIE 2012 Optics & Photonics Education Scholarship、P. D. Coleman 研究优秀奖、Yuen T. Lo研究优秀奖、Beckman Institute Fellowship等奖励。发表SCI论文近60篇,包括通讯或第一作者(含共同)发表于Nature Photonics、Light: Science & Applications、Advanced Photonics、Lasers & Photonics Review、Additive Manufacturing等高水平期刊,最高单篇研究论文被引439次;发表国际会议论文50余篇,做国际会议特邀报告20余次,大学/科研机构邀请报告30余次;申请/获批11项美国/中国/国际专利。现担任IEEE Photonics Technology Letters、JOSA A、International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing期刊编委, IEEE Transactions on Computational Imaging等期刊特刊编委;担任国际会议光学成像主题研讨会/分会联合主席或编委20余次,包括SPIE Quantitative Phase Imaging、Emerging Digital Micromirror Device Based Systems and Applications等。

LAMB实验室介绍:现有博士后、博士生、科研助理15余人,专业涵盖光学、光电子、精密仪器、分子生物等众多学科;研究领域涉及无标记光学成像、定量相位显微、干涉显微测量、光学衍射层析、超分辨光学显微、计算光学、量子成像及其在活体生物成像与纳米材料检测领域的应用开发。实验室拥有完善的光学成像与测量实验硬件,包括飞秒激光器、深紫外激光光源、超连续激光光源、光纤激光器、超高速相机、高灵敏度相机、短波红外相机、高分辨率数字微镜器件、空间光调制器、长工作距离高数值孔径物镜、高精度光学平台等;此外,还具备细胞培养平台、高性能计算机与显卡、全自动显微镜等基础研究科研设备。实验室具备国际化视野,与美国麻省理工学院、美国斯坦福大学、新加坡南洋理工大学、浙江大学等高校实验室建立了长期且密切的合作;同时,高度注重研究与产业结合,产生的技术专利已孵化出一家初创公司。此外实验室所在的香港中文大学环境优雅,俯瞰吐露港,是全港最宽广、最绿意盎然的校园。为满足学习与生活所需,校内有齐备的设施 ,包括一流的图书馆,另有文物馆、音乐厅、游泳池、运动场、网球场、壁球场、水上活动中心和健身室等;所在生物医学工程专业在2023年世界大学学术排名名列全球TOP 20,近3年来稳居香港第一。
