Cells were viewed using an Olympus BX51 fluorescence
microscope and quantitation was achieved by analyzing at least 50
randomly selected comets per slide with the Komet 5.5 software
(Kinetic Imaging Ltd., Nottingham, UK) using the parameter olive tail
moments (arbitrary units, defined as the product of the percentage of
DNA in the tail multiplied by the tail length
