Along with the rapid development of hardware and embedded systems, ad hoc and sensor networks are being further developed towards a large number of mobile and multimedia applications, e.g., video surveillance, traffic enforcement and control systems, advanced healthcare delivery, structural health monitoring, and industrial process control. To eventually realise these mobility and multimedia technologies combined applications, significant efforts are still needed from both the academic community and industrial fields, since the requirements for supporting both mobility and multimedia streaming in wireless ad hoc and sensor networks raise many challenging issues, e.g., mobile network self-organisation, limited resource intelligent allocation, cross-layer optimisation, and intelligent content-aware transmission. http://www.inderscience.com/browse/callpaper.php?callID=1228 Guest Editors: Dr. Victor Leung Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, The University of British Columbia, 2332 Main Mall, Vancouver, B.C., V6T 1Z4, Canada, Tel: +1-604-822-6932; Fax: +1-604-822-5949, E-mail: vleung@ece.ubc.ca Dr. Min Chen Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of British Columbia, 2332 Main Mall, Vancouver, B.C., V6T 1Z4, Canada, Tel: +1-778-878-1688; Fax: +1-604-822-5949 E-mail: minchen@ece.ubc.ca Dr. Lei Shu Digital Enterprise Research Institute, National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland Tel: +353-91-494305; Fax: +353-91-495541 E-mail: lei.shu@ieee.org ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Subject: CFP: Special Issue on Cryptographic Hardware & Embedded Systems From: nsklavos@ieee.org To: cse-cfp@cse.stfx.ca CALL FOR PAPERS Special Issue on “Cryptographic Hardware & Embedded Systems” “Information Security Journal: A Global Perspective”, The official Journal of (ISC)2, A Taylor & Francis Group Publication Web: http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/titles/1065898X.asp Manuscript Submission: http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/uiss GUEST EDITORS: Dr. Nicolas Sklavos, Informatics & MM Dept, Technological Educational Institute of Patras, HELLAS E-mail: nsklavos@ieee.org Web: www.nsklavos.gr Ralph Spencer Poore, CFE, CISA, CISSP, CHS-III, CTGA, QSA Cryptographic Assurance Services LLC,USA E-mail: rspoore@ralph-s-poore.com Web: www.cryptographicassuranceservices.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Subject: CFP: Special Issue on Privacy-Preserving Sharing of Sensitive Information From: gts@ics.uci.edu To: cse-cfp@cse.stfx.ca CALL FOR PAPERS Call for Papers: IEEE Security Privacy Special Issue on: Privacy-Preserving Sharing of Sensitive Information Expected Publication Date: July/August 2010 Submission Deadline: 15 November 2009 Guest Editors: Sal Stolfo (Columbia University) Gene Tsudik (UC Irvine) Privacy-Preserving Sharing of Sensitive Information (PPSSI) is motivated by the increasing need for organizations or people who don’t fully trust each other to share sensitive information. Many types of organizations must often collect, analyze, and disseminate data rapidly and accurately without exposing sensitive information to wrong or untrusted parties. For example, census-takers collect private data with the understanding that it won’t be released in a form traceable to the individual who provided it. Companies might be willing to divulge sensitive financial data to organizations that release only aggregate data for an industry sector. A hospital might share patient information with a state health agency but only to allow the latter to determine the number (and not the identities) of uninsured patients. While statistical methods for protecting data have been in use for decades, they’re not foolproof and they generally involve a trusted third party to produce privacy-preserving statistical digests. More recently, techniques employing secure multi-party function evaluation, encrypted keywords, and private information retrieval have been studied and, in a few cases, deployed, However there are no practical tools and technologies to guarantee data privacy, especially, whenever organizations have certain common goals and require exchanges of data. To this end, the objective of PPSSI technology is to enable multiple entities to cooperate and share information without exposing more than what is necessary to complete a common task. Submissions will be subject to the peer-review methodology for refereed papers. Articles should be 6,000 words, maximum, with a maximum of 15 references. Articles should be understandable to a broad audience of people interested in security and privacy. The writing should be down to earth, practical, and original. Authors should not assume that the audience will have specialized experience in a particular subfield. All accepted articles will be edited according to the IEEE Computer Society style guide. Just to name few, engineering, control, economics and forecasting are some of the scientific fields that enjoy the use of ANN and FS. Unfortunately, the majority of the applications is complex and so requires a large computational effort to yield useful and practical results. Therefore, dedicated hardware for evolutionary, neural and fuzzy computation is becoming a key issue for designers. With the spread of reconfigurable hardware such as FPGAs and FPAAs, digital as well as analog hardware implementations of such computation become cost-effective. http://www.worldscinet.com/jcsc/mkt/callforpapers_details.shtml Guest Editors: Nadia Nedjah, nadia@eng.uerj.br Dept. of Electronics Engineering Telecommunications Faculty of Engineering, State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil http://www.eng.uerj.br/~nadia/english.html Hamid Bouchachia, hamid@isys.uni-klu.ac.at Dept. of Informatics and System University of Klagenfurt, Austria http://www.isys.uni-klu.ac.at/private/hamid/pub_HomePage.html Luiza de Macedo Mourelle, ldmm@eng.uerj.br Dept. of Systems Engineering Computation, Faculty of Engineering State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: CFP: Special Issue on Evolutionary Synthesis of Network-on-Chip Based Systems From: nadia@eng.uerj.br To: cse-cfp@cse.stfx.ca CALL FOR PAPERS Special Issue on: Evolutionary Synthesis of Network-on-Chip Based Systems Network-on-Chip (NoC) is an emerging paradigm for communications within large VLSI systems implemented on a single silicon chip. IT is used as a new approach to designing complex System-on-a-chip (SoCs) design. NoC-based systems can accommodate multiple complex SoC designs. In a NoC-based system, modules such as processor cores, memories and specialized IP blocks exchange data using a on-chip network. A NoC is constructed from multiple point-topoint data links interconnected by switches also called routers, such that messages can be relayed from any source module to any destination module over several links, by making routing decisions at the switches. VLSI designers of NoC-based systems face several problems, among which we can cite, for instance, planning the architecture that is most suitable to a given application is order to improve performance and mapping the sub-systems that form the application into the multiple tiles of the NoC infra-structure. Evolutionary computation can be used as a very robust tool to bring some answers to this kind of design problems. http://icais09.uni-klu.ac.at/SpecialIssueProposal-NoC-IJE.pdf Guest Editors: Nadia Nedjah, nadia@eng.uerj.br Dept. of Electronics Engineering Telecommunications Faculty of Engineering, State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil http://www.eng.uerj.br/~nadia/english.html Luiza de Macedo Mourelle, ldmm@eng.uerj.br Dept. of Systems Engineering Computation, Faculty of Engineering State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil http://www.eng.uerj.br/~ldmm Hamid Bouchachia, hamid@isys.uni-klu.ac.at Dept. of Informatics and System University of Klagenfurt, Austria ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: CFP: Journal of Network & Computer Application From: R.Malde@elsevier.com To: cse-cfp@cse.stfx.ca CALL FOR PAPERS Special issue: Middleware Trends for Network Applications Guest Editors: Dr. Nader Mohamed, Dr. Jameela Al-Jaroodi Submission deadline: October 31st. 2009 Website: http://www.elsevier.com/framewor ... c/jnca-cfp-MTNA.pdf Special issue: Advances on Agent?\based Network Management Guest Editors: Prof. Jason J. However, as the dimension of wireless devices decreases and the network density increases, energy and bandwidth resources become increasingly scarce and innovative networking solutions must be developed to overcome these challenges. Moreover, due to the large demand for wireless connectivity in different applications, wireless networks have evolved into various forms including wireless metropolitan networks, local area networks, mesh networks, ad hoc networks, and sensor networks, etc. Integration over heterogeneous systems becomes essential to fully capitalize on the functionalities and services they provide. In addition, advances in theory are required to achieve these goals and new applications may arise to leverage these advantages.
