Research Assistant in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health, City University of Hong Kong (Appointment for 12 months with possibility of extension) Project Distribution of Zoonotic Multidrug-Resistant Bacteria from Companion Animals in Hong Kong Duties • Developing laboratory protocols. • Performing microbiological techniques such as bacterial culture, isolation and identification. • Running antimicrobial susceptibility testing. • Conducting DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing and other molecular biology techniques. Requirements A Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Science or a related discipline, and no more than 6 years of service at the University. Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting and proficiency in molecular biology techniques are essential. Ability to work effectively within a team and proactive willingness to respond to challenges and acquire new skills are desirable. Priority will be given to candidates with a veterinary degree and those with previous experience in manuscript writing and scientific communication skills are an additional asset. Salary and Conditions of Service Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
