dr. alan lynch is currently seeking talented students interested in performing their phd in robotics at the dept. of electrical and computer engineering at the university of alberta, edmonton, alberta, canada. the expected start date is is as soon as possible (ie, summer 2024 or fall 2024). these phd positions are fully funded. the research topics focus on mobile robotics. topics in aerial robotics include aerial manipulation and force control, load transport, visual servoing, vision-based navigation, state estimation, visual odometry, visual-inertial odometry, multi-vehicle system coordination, novel actuation, aerodynamic modelling, and nonlinear control and observer design for force and motion control. desired student profile: • motivated and organized to work and have a strong background and/or interest in modelling, control, robotics, unmanned aerial systems, mathematics, control theory, physics, embedded systems, and field testing • hands-on skills include c/c++, ros, linux, lan admin • good communication and project management skills (e.g., to supervise msc or undergraduates) • conference and journal publications are desirable • academic excellence and ability to think analytically • should not be obsessed with ai, but open to gaining knowledge in this area as required by the application. please note the requirement for admission to the dept of ece at u of alberta should be met https://www.ualberta.ca/engineer ... to-apply/index.html application procedure: please send as soon as possible: (1) a detailed cv, (2) transcripts of previous university degrees with gpa information listed (3) representative publications, and (4) the contact information of three individuals who can serve as references, (5) confirm you have met the admission requirements for the dept. you will be contacted for an interview if your application is selected. please send your application material by email to prof. alan lynch alan.lynch@ualberta.ca alan lynch, professor dept. electrical and computer engineering university of alberta, edmonton ab, t6g 1h9, canada https://ancl.ece.ualberta.ca |
