School of Pharmaceutical Science, Hengyang Medical School, University of South China, Hengyang, China Interests: isolation of natural products; structure optimization; synthesis; evaluation of activity/mechanisms Special Issues, Collections and Topics in MDPI journals Special Issue Information Dear Colleagues, Natural products (NPs) have been an important source for drug discovery and development due to their novel structures and wide range of pharmacological activities. Especially in the discovery of antibiotics, most of the antibiotics are derived from NPs and their derivatives, such as penicillin G, amoxicillin, oxytetracycline, and minocycline. Second, the synthesis of antimicrobial compounds is important for the protection of the natural environment. Many antimicrobial NPs are scarce in nature, and obtaining these NPs from nature can lead to environmental destruction. Additionally, the synthesis of antimicrobial NPs will lead to research on new theories, reactions, and reagents, promoting the development of chemical science. In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome.
