Reviewer(s)' Comments to Author: Reviewer: 2 Comments to the Author The manuscript addresses the synthesis, characterization and analytical applications of Th(IV)-ion imprinted silica gel. The subject matches the scope of the journal. However, this manuscript is essentially a mere extension of the previously reported method ‘[19] Q. He, X.J. Chang, Q. Wu, X.P. Huang, Z. Hu, and Y.H. Zhai, Anal. Chim. Acta 605, 192 (2007).’ The authors should point out the specific features of their method and this paper needs major revision by considering the following points. 1. Fig. 3 is redundant and should be deleted. 2. Elemental analysis of non-imprinted product should be added in table 1. 3. A triplicate experiment is must and concomitant precision data has to be shown in Figs also. 4. Molecular imprinting must be supported by additional data. The adsorbent used in this study must be defined is porous or not. If it is porous, the surface area of the adsorbent must be determined in the paper by a method like BET. 5. In real samples analysis, the standard addition method was used. Found of waste water 1 was 96.10±0.31, the recovery was 96.1%. I think the results shown in Table 4 were dubious. The analytical results of samples should be listed when Th(IV) was not added. Reviewer: 3 Comments to the Author 1. In 2.1 (page 5 line 15) absorption Is not expressed in cm-1 – absorbance is unit less value. 2. In 2.2 (page 5 line44) perhaps is type error – chloroactic ? 3. In 2.3.1 (page 6 lines 28, 30, 60) sentences unclear – English 4. In 2.3.2 (page 7 lines 23, 31-32) sentences unclear – English 5. In 2.4.1 (page 8 line 7) question: why mixture was shaken 40 min. while equilibrium time is 25 min. (3.3) 6. In 2.4.2 (page 8 line 44) Sentence: And then each solution… is out of context. Any solution except for Th(IV) was mentioned before. 7. In 2.4.2 General question: Were parameters of determination (acidity) optimized?, How about spectral interferences? 8. In 3.5 (page 12 line 4) distribution ratios is denoted D, while in table 2 – K 9. In 3.9 (page 14 line 42) the sentence can be omitted because it contain the some data presented in table 2. 10. In table 4 perhaps is type error for ‘Waste water 1’ Reviewer: 4 Comments to the Author This manuscript describes an interesting and wide (comprehensive) work on preparing of surface imprinted polymers. Static and dynamic adsorption test have carried out. Thermodynamic and kinetic studies have also carried out. Selectivity has studied. Effect of foreign ions on percentage recovery of Th (IV) on the adsorbent and real samples have analyzed. However, corrections and questions are listed below: 1. At line 3 at page 4 “silical gel” should be “silica gel”. 2. At page 24 in scheme 1, What are dark circles? The authors should mention them clearly. The authors should give how many times reaction occur? The first reaction and second reaction don’t exist at the synthesis of SPE polymers. At the third reaction the authors should give MAH monomer. 3. The graph related top H study should be given and the adsorption capacity at that pH should be given. 4. FIGURE 2: The equations of graphics and correlation coefficient should be given. 5. Section 3.4: It seems that the adsorption capacity of imprinted polymers are not so different compared to non-imprinted polymers. How the authors explain this situtation. 6. The authors have been investigated selectivity of polymers and got minimum and maximum relative selective coefficient values with U (VI) and Zr (IV). Are these values are the expected ones. I mean that the authors should explain these results considering some properties such as ion diameter, number of bonds, interaction type. 有机会吗?问题好难啊!怎么没有第一个审稿人的意见?没有找到! |
