Extraction of THE volatile oilS from BOTH THE anise seed AND shell, and analysis of THEIR residue applications Abstract: The volatile oilS WERE extracted from BOTH THE anise seeds and shellS by soxhlet method, and concentrations of eight kinds of THE fatty acids in BOTH volatile oilS were determined using gas chromatography. Compared with the common vegetable oilS, compositionS of the fatty acidS IN THE anise seed volatile oil WERE similar TO THAT OF THE VEGETABLE OILS, AND contentS OF THE fatty acids IN THE anise shell volatile oil WERE LOWER THAN THAT IN THE VEGETABLE OILS. BOTH VOLATILE OILS WERE still the first choice TO BE USED AS spices. DESIGNING A SIMPLE PROCESS FOR THE OIL REFINEMENT IN A LAB, WE SLIGHTLY REFINED THE STAR ANISE SEED OIL AND THEN TESTED IT according to the health standards OF THE vegetable oil FOR FOOD. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE ANISE SEED VOLATILE OIL WAS SAFE FOR FOOD. AT LAST, PARTS OF QUALITY SPECIFICATIONS OF RESIDUES OF BOTH STAR ANISE SEEDS AND SHELLS WERE ANALYZED AND THE POSSIBILITY OF USING THEM AS ANIMAL FEEDS WAS DISCUSSED. Results showed that CONTENTS OF BOTH protein and crude fiber IN THE anise seed residue were SIMILAR TO THAT IN THE soybean hull, and THAT THE other physical and chemical SPECIFICATIONS were in line with THE hygiene standards OF feed. The application PROPOSAL of anise seed residues was put forward according to the utilization of soybean hulls. |

Extraction of volatile oil from star anise seed shell and the analysis of application of residues Abstract: The volatile oil was extracted from star anise seeds and shell by soxhlet method, and the concentrations of eight kinds of fatty acids in the volatile oil were determined using gas chromatography. Compared with the common vegetable oil, the fatty acid composition of anise seed volatile oil was similar, while fatty acids content of anise seed shell volatile oil was little, as spices is still the first choice. According to the health standards for testing edible vegetable oil, a simple technique of refined oils was built on a laboratory scale, and the results showed that the refined anise seed oil could be safe to eat. Furthermore, the quality indicators of anise seed residues and shell residues were analyzed to explore the feasibility as animal feed. The results showed that the protein and crude fiber content of anise seed residues were analogous with that of soybean hulls, and other physical and chemical indicators were in line with feed hygiene standards. The application concept of anise seed residues was put forward according to the utilization of soybean hulls.
