[交流] PhD recruiting in Chemical Engineering at Michigan Technological University

Dr. Yixin Liu’s research group at Michigan Technological University is seeking highly
motivated Ph.D. students in the field of chemical and biological sensors. The students will
receive full financial support, including a stipend and tuition coverage. The position can start
as soon as Spring 2024. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the
position is filled.

Dr. Liu's lab combines advanced materials, computational modeling, and data-driven
approaches to develop high-performance chemical and biological sensing technologies. The
lab has received diverse research funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the
United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Department of Energy (DOE). You
can expect an inclusive, supportive, and highly productive working environment.

The applicants should have a BS or an MS degree in chemical engineering, material science,
or other related fields. Background in one of the following areas is desired: 1) molecular
docking and dynamic simulation, 2) electrochemistry, polymers, and/or microfluidics, 3) gas
sensing materials, semiconductors, or catalysts. Knowledge and experience with machine
learning, data analytics, and optimization is a plus. Interested applicants are encouraged to
contact Dr. Liu (yixinliu@mtu.edu) with a brief cover letter describing research interests and
relevant qualifications, a resume/CV, and transcripts. For international students, Michigan
Tech requires a minimum 79 overall TOEFL or 6.5 overall IELTS score.

Michigan Technological University, one of the four major research universities in the State of
Michigan, is located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula adjacent to Lake Superior. Michigan Tech
was ranked #51 on College Factual's Best Chemical Engineering Doctor's Degree Schools.
