One postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of maijia liao, phd (incoming assistant professor of physics and bioengineering at Northeastern university, https://sites.google.com/view/maijia-liao-homepage/about-me).

The lab uses single-molecule imaging, genetic manipulation, whole-cell super-resolution microscopy, and physical modeling to understand how neuron structures and functions emerge from the elementary molecular processes, under both normal development and pathological stresses.

We offer a dynamic and stimulating work environment for conducting cutting-edge research and for facilitating your career development. candidates will be mentored to advance their scientific research, science communication, grantsmanship, and management skills. Postdocs will be embedded in a strong and vibrant biophysics community at Northeastern and in Boston.

Salary commensurate with experience per NIH standards, e.g. $65-70k/year. the initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal. start date is flexible; after jan 2024 preferred, but senior doctoral students (4th year +) will be considered and are encouraged to apply. review of applications will start immediately and will continue until the position is filled. for best consideration, please submit your application by July 15, 2023. Qualifications and requirements
• recent phd in biology/ biophysics or related discipline
• highly motivated, able to work independently, and in a team environment
• training in drosophila molecular genetics and cell biology
• microscopy experience is required, including confocal imaging
• experience with neuronal cytoskeleton, optogenetics, quantitative imaging analysis, training and supervising undergraduates/graduates in a laboratory setting will all be assets to this position.
