EMSL Announcement: Seeking Applications for William Wiley Post-Doctoral Fellowship

The EMSL William Wiley Post Doctoral Fellowship is designed to attract high-performing, recently graduated Ph.D. scientists who have the potential to become full-time scientific staff at EMSL, the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory, a Department of Energy national scientific user facility located at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington.

Candidates must display superb ability in scientific research and must show definite promise of becoming outstanding leaders in the research they pursue, as illustrated by their application materials, to include:

·    A current curriculum vitae showing all research publications and experience
·    A Statement of Research Interest (not a formal research proposal)
·    Copies of Unofficial Transcripts for all degrees.

Terms of appointment:

Fellowships are awarded for a 1-year term, with possible renewal up to 3 years total. The Fellowship carries a minimum stipend of $70,000 per annum with an additional allocation of up to $20,000 per year for research support and travel. The Fellows, who will be competitively selected by an EMSL fellowship committee, must collaborate with EMSL scientists in a research area that aligns with EMSL science themes (http://www.emsl.pnl.gov/science/).

You will need to upload ONE PDF file that includes the components listed above.  Applications lacking these components will be declared ineligible.

Timeline:

·    Position Opens for Applications: October 1, 2009
·    Last Day to Submit an Application: November 30, 2009
·    Accepted Candidates to Present Formal Proposal will be Notified: by December 20, 2009
·    Interviews and Research Proposal Presentations to be Held: January 2010
·    Final Selection Made: by February 15, 2010.
