Ma@pennmedicine.upenn.edu 和 Leyuan.
Job description
The MA LAB for immune engineering and translational immunology at the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (https://www.malabimmuneng.com/) is seeking motivated post-doctoral fellows to join our innovative laboratory to carry out cutting-edge research on immune system crosstalk and engineer innovative biomaterials, protein and cell-based immunotherapies.
We are a highly interdisciplinary team working at the interface of immunology and engineering. We leverage 1) Chemical and biomaterials engineering to dissect and manipulate immune cell-cell and cell-tissue crosstalk to enhance cellular therapy and promote vaccine development, 2) Genetic engineering and synthetic immunology to create intelligent cells that integrate environmental cues for decision making, 3) Protein engineering to develop safe and potent immune-modulatory proteins and nanostructures with desired trafficking profile, release kinetics, enhanced or novel functions.
We have three postdoc fellow positions available with the following research focus:
1, Tailored immune modulation with chemistry/biomaterials to improve transplantation tolerance (and/or treatment of autoimmune diseases, e.g., T1D).
2, Development novel nanoparticle/biomaterials-based drug delivery platform and vaccines to enhance immunotherapies in solid tumors.
3, Engineering the next generation cellular immunotherapy to target antigenically heterogeneous tumors.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
Candidates should have a PhD and/or MD (or equivalent) degree in biomedical sciences, immunology, bioengineering, or chemistry. Ideal candidates will be highly independent, self-motivated, possess strong problem solving and critical thinking skills and have the ability to work in a team, exercise discretion and communicate effectively. Given the highly interdisciplinary nature of our projects, candidates are expected to be expert and technically proficient in at least two of the following topics: multi-color flow cytometry and immune cell profiling, florescent/confocal microscopy, HPLC, FPLC, biomaterials/nanoparticles, vaccine designs and synthesis (mRNA or nanoparticles), chemical synthesis/modifications/characterizations and purifications, mouse disease models, synthetic biology and genetic circuit designs, CRISPR high-throughput screening, deep-sequencing and data analysis, recombinant protein production/characterization and purification, viral vector design and engineering.
Our mission and culture
We are a team of dedicated scientists developing and applying cutting edge technologies to modulate the immune system to treat cancer and autoimmune diseases. We are united in our mission to work as hard as we can, together as a team, and collaboratively with investigators in other programs, to find those treatments that are desperately needed for thousands of patients suffering from cancer and autoimmune disease around the world. Our lab embraces diversity and equality in the workplace. We recognize the strength of our team from including members with different backgrounds, ways of life, and experiences. We hold ourselves accountable for treating each other fairly and equally to create the best possible environment to succeed with our goals as researchers and individuals. Together, we can make a difference!
Successful candidates will benefit from the thriving and collegial UPenn/CHOP research community, tailored career development guidance, state-of-the-art research facilities and excellent benefits package. Applicants should send their inquiries to Dr. Ma (Leyuan.Ma@pennmedicine.upenn.edu and Leyuan.Ma@gmail.com , please email to BOTH addresses) along with a CV, contacts for three references and a brief summary of research experience and interests. Happy to answer questions, feel free to email me. |
