The reasons for the N+S co-doped TiO2 catalyst to possess the highest photo catalysis are: 1. Elements of N and S together enter into the N+S co-doped TiO2 crystal structure by taking the forms of Ti-N bonds and Ti-S bonds. The orbit hybridization between N2p and O2p as well as between S3p and O2p makes the anti-bonding orbit even deeper in the energy gap, which decreases the forbidden gap of TiO2 and promote the optical absorption of the photo catalyst in the visible light band. 2. Both the littlest average grain size and the appropriate ratio between the anatase phase and rutile phase can increase the separation efficiency of the photon-induced carriers and thus enhance the photo catalysis. |
