PhD position - operando NMR method for electrocatalysis at Radboud University

We are looking for a PhD candidate to join the NMReChem group (https://www.ewzhaogroup.org/) at the Magnetic Resonance Research Center (https://www.ru.nl/science/magneticresonance/), Institute for Molecules and Materials, Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands. This PhD studentship is funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) and will be under the supervision of Dr. Evan Wenbo Zhao (assistant professor), with a focus on developing and applying operando NMR methods for studying electrocatalysis. The PhD project has two major components – one on NMR method development and the other on electrocatalysis, with an emphasis on NMR method including novel probe implementation and application. The overarching goal of this PhD project is to help reduce CO2 emission via green electrochemical synthesis of commodity chemicals such as ammonia. We contribute to this goal by pushing the fundamental understanding of reaction mechanisms via the new NMR approach. Tentative starting date is 1st June, 2023. We offer attractive monthly salaries (�2541, �2960, �3098, �3247 for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year respectively), and staff benefits such as 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus in addition to the regular salary (equivalent to a net salary of 14 months).
