Post-doctoral scholar: Exploring novel therapeutic strategies by targeting the unique features of chemoresistant cell population in solid tumors

The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University ([www.igp.uu.se](https://www.igp.u ... p;gt;www.igp.uu.se) has a broad research profile with strong research groups focused on cancer, autoimmune and genetic diseases. A fundamental idea at the department is to stimulate translational research and thereby closer interactions between medical research and healthcare. The staff amounts to approximately 340 employees, out of which 100 are PhD-students, and there are in total more than 600 affiliated people.

**Our research** aims to explore unique features in quiescent tumor cell populations which enable them resistant to conventional anticancer schemes and develop more effective therapeutic strategies by targeting these features. So far, we have identified several distinct expression patterns of quiescent tumor cells using scRNA sequencing. At the same time, we have discovered serval small molecules which target both proliferating and quiescent cancer cell populations. Now we are looking for someone who will join this project!

**Your profile**

Essential

- A recent PhD degree in a relevant research area.
- Solid experimental background including *in vitro* cell-based assays, western blotting, qPCR, and cell engineering.
- Passionate and dedicated in pursuing a scientific career and show an interest in cancer biology and novel drug discovery and development.
- Confident in conducting scientific discussions in English.

Advantageous

- Publication(s) as a lead author in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Experience to design and execute experiments using mouse models.
- Experiences with CRISPR/Cas9 precise genome editing.
- Experiences with scRNA-seq experiments and analysis.
- Experiences with 3D cell culture & cell-based assay

**The funding**

This is a 2-year career development opportunity designed for recent PhD graduates and is exempted from taxation. The monthly scholarship will be negotiated and approved by the head of the department.
