Aromatic tetramines, specifically bis-o-diamines, have been used as intermediates for the preparation of linear, high molecular weight condensation polymers, many of which have been reported to possess outstanding chemical, thermal, and radiation resistance. Synthesis of polybenzimidazoles, polyimidazopyrrolones (pyrrones), and polybenzimidazobenzophenanthrolines (BB polymers) involves a polycondensation of the tetramine with a polyacid or acid derivative, whereas polyquinoxalines are derived from a tetramine and a bis(a-dicarbonyl) compound. |
