Job description We are looking for an experienced, motivated and research-enthusiastic scientist for a postdoc position to join the Division of Metabolite Medicine (BMM) at the BLAVATNIK CENTER for Drug Discovery in Tel Aviv. The BMM’s vision is to unravel disease-dependent and prognostic alternations of metabolites in humans by means of advanced analytical technology. Our aim is to strengthen the center’s interdisciplinary research supporting the understanding of the mechanisms that underlie metabolic health and disease by utilizing metabolomics tools to monitor new treatment approaches. The primary responsibilities will include the application of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry-based metabolomics, targeted quantitative assay development and computational data processing and analysis to study the underlying mechanisms and early disease biomarkers. The methods will typically be applied to study cohorts involving phenotypes of healthy persons and patients with different degrees of diseases. The postdoctoral fellow may also be involved in the development of strategies and methodology for high-throughput metabolomics assays. The BLAVATNIK CENTER for Drug Discovery is a fully integrated center for translational research, based at Tel Aviv University, that comprises medicinal chemistry, biological target identification, computer-assisted drug design, and most recent metabolite medicine units under one roof, providing a state-of-the-art R&D environment and academic platform in the relevant fields of early-stage drug discovery. The center is managed by its founding director, Professor Ehud Gazit (https://bcdd.tau.ac.il/Meet-Ehud-Gazit). The applicant's profile: • Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry, metabolomics, chemometrics, or subject-relevant areas • Demonstrated practical experience with bioanalytical mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography, method development, validation and data processing • Previous research experience and a solid track record of relevant publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals • Knowledge in bioinformatics and biostatistics • Interest in metabolomics research and methodology • Outstanding science writing and oral communication skills (in English), excellent documentation skills • Experience in programming, e.g., R, Python or MATLAB is a plus • Ability to initiate new projects/experiments while working independently and as part of a team on milestone-driven, time-sensitive projects The candidate shall provide the following • CV, incl. education, work/research experience, language skills and other skills relevant to the position • Research statement • Full list of publications and research achievements • Names and contact details of at least two professional referees • Ph.D. certification (certified/signed copy) Application Process The application shall be submitted by e-mail to: michealkz@tauex.tau.ac.il Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a personal or online interview. We are looking forward to hearing from you! |
