During the past decade, investigations on the RSCS in a variety of liquid binary mixtures, using Raman spectroscopy, have been reported by our group. In these studies, the RSCS was investigated through Raman study and the liquid-core optical fiber were made. In the early study, we have reported the changed in the dependence of the RSCSs of CCl4 on the concentrations. In the recent study, Tian et al. have reported that RSCS of
aqueousβ-carotene was high and analyzed the experimental results attributed to both resonance Raman effect and dipole-induced dipole interactions. However, in the present study we measured the Raman spectra of β-carotene in CS2 in the concentrations range from 10-6 to 10-11M by the LCOF method, and the RSCS of both C=C and C-C stretching modes were determined by using peak area ratios according to the internal standard method. We measured that the RSCSs of β-carotene were unexpectedly high with decreasing concentration of the solute. When the concentration of 8×10-11M, the RSRC of C =C vibration up to 2.6 × 10-20cm2molecule-1Sr-1; and when the concentration of 8×10-10M, the RSCS of C-C vibration up to 1.32×10-21cm2molecule-1Sr-1。For this extraordinary phenomenon, we introduced a qualitative nonlinear model of coherent weakly damped electron-lattice vibrations[5]. With increasing structural order, higher degree of delocalization of π electrons induces a high electron-phonon coupling leading to anomalously high RSCS.

During the past decade, investigations on the RSCS in a variety of liquid binary mixtures via Raman spectroscopy have been reported by our group. In these studies, the RSCS was investigated through Raman study where liquid-core optical fiber were made. In our previous work, we have reported the changed [changes???] in the dependence of the RSCSs of CCl4 on the concentrations. In a recent study, Tian et al. reported that RSCS of aqueousβ-carotene was high, and analyzed the experimental results attributed to both resonance Raman effect and dipole-induced dipole interactions. However, in our recent work, we measured the Raman spectra of β-carotene in CS2 in concentrations ranged from 10-6 to 10-11M by LCOF method, and the RSCS of both C=C and C-C stretching modes were determined by using peak area ratios according to the internal standard method. According to our measurement, the RSCSs of β-carotene were unexpectedly high with decreased concentration of the solute. At concentration of 8×10-11M, the RSRC of C =C vibration rises to 2.6 × 10-20cm2molecule-1Sr-1, whilst at concentration of 8×10-10M, the RSCS of C-C vibration grows to 1.32×10-21cm2molecule-1Sr-1. For this extraordinary phenomenon, we proposed a qualitative nonlinear model of coherent weakly damped electron-lattice vibrations[5]. With an increasing structural order, higher degree of delocalization of π electrons was found to induce a high electron-phonon coupling leading to anomalously high RSCS.

During the past decade, using Raman spectroscopy, studies of various liquid binary mixtures on the RSCS have been reported by our group and the liquid-core optical fiber have been developed. In the early study, we  elucidated the changed in the dependence of the RSCSs of CCl4 on the concentrations. Recently, Tian et al.  provedthat RSCS of aqueous (water-soluble?)β-carotene was high and analyzed the experimental results attributed to both resonance Raman effect and dipole-induced dipole interactions. , Herein, we obtained the Raman spectra of β-carotene in CS2 in the concentrations range from 10-6 to 10-11M by the LCOF method, and the RSCS of both C=C and C-C stretching modes were determined by use of peak area ratios according to the internal standard method. We found that the RSCSs of β-carotene were unexpectedly high with decreasing concentration of the solute. At the concentration of 8×10-11M, the RSRC of C =C vibration was up to 2.6 × 10-20cm2 molecule-1 Sr-1; and at 8×10-10M,  it wasup to 1.32×10-21cm2molecule-1Sr-1。For this extraordinary phenomenon, we introduced a qualitative nonlinear model of coherent weakly damped electron-lattice vibrations[5]. With increase of structural order, higher degree of delocalization of π electrons induces intense electron-phonon coupling leading to anomalously high RSCS.
