One postdoctoral position in the field of the tumor microenvironment is available in Dr. Jing Yang¡¯s lab at the Houston Methodist, Cancer Center, Houston Methodist Research Institute. The selected candidate will be responsible for the projects aimed at identifying new biomarkers or therapeutic targets within the bone marrow microenvironment of multiple myeloma for better prevention, diagnosis, or therapy improvement. The translational research program at Dr. Yang¡¯s lab aims to investigate the interplay between cancer cells and bone marrow stromal cells such as adipocytes, immune cells, and bone cells, and the association between obesity and cancer. These studies aim to explore innovative approaches or strategies to prevent therapeutic resistance, improve chemo and immunotherapeutic efficacy, and early detection of hematological malignancies. Please refer to the selected publications from Dr. Yang¡¯s lab for more information (Science Translational Medicine (2016, PMID: 27559096); Science Translational Medicine (2019, PMID: 31142679); Cell Metabolism (2021, PMID: 33406405); Nature Communication (2022, PMID: 35760800). We seek a highly motivated and independent candidate with a recent Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree in one of the following (or relevant) areas: molecular/cellular biology, oncology, metabolism, immunology, or bone disease research. A candidate with a strong molecular biology background is preferred. A track record of excellent first-author publication during Ph.D. training will be helpful. The position should be flexible starting between January to September 2023. The pay scale follows the NIH guidelines. Interested applications, including curriculum vitae, a brief cover letter, and the contact information of three references should be sent to Dr.Yang: jyang2@houstonmethodist.org.
