About the Power and Control Team
The discipline of electrical and biomedical engineering hosts a strong research team in power and control. Led by Distinguished Professor Xinghuo Yu, Prof Brendan McGrath, and Associate Prof Lasantha Meegahapola, the team has broad research strengths in power electronics, power system analysis and control, and intelligent control systems. The discipline of electrical and biomedical engineering hosts several world-class laboratories to ensure high-quality research training. These include Smart Energy/Microgrid Lab, Machine Drives Lab, Power Electronics Lab, and Advanced Control Lab. The PhD candidate will be supervised by two academics to conduct inter-disciplinary research in cutting-edge technologies of modern power grids and control. Opportunities for oversea exchange will be available.

Requirements
Solid background in power system analysis, power electronics, and modern control theory. Skilful in simulation software and controller programming. Good knowledge of modern power grids and the role of power electronics. Experiences in IEEE journal publications.
