一,具体工作描述
王伟俊副教授 (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wee-Jun Ong),厦门大学马来西亚分校(Xiamen University Malaysia, XMUM)纳米能源与催化技术卓越中心(Center of Excellence for NaNo Energy & Catalysis Technology, CONNECT)主任正在为马来西亚政府资助的可持续能源项目招聘几名对纳米科技充满热忱的研究人才(研究人员和博士后研究员)。

我们的主要的重点研究项目是微波等离子体驱动的甲烷裂解,用于自支撑石墨烯和氢气的量产的合成技术以及固态氢气存储。该项目将由厦门大学马来西亚分校(XMUM)纳米能源与催化技术卓越中心(CONNECT)、纳米能源与催化材料课题组(Nanomaterials for Energy and Catalysis, NanoECats)主导。

该专项将涉及实验和模拟计算两大方向:
(1)        微波等离子体裂解甲烷合成自支撑石墨烯和氢气
•        根据不同的反应条件(例如反应气氛、缓冲气体/载气、成分流速、温度梯度、等离子体等)优化微波等离子体裂解效率
•        甲烷裂解性能的数据分析
•        产物的质量和数量的表征与分析
•        氢气产量分析
•        石墨烯和氢气的量产技术

(2)        微波等离子体反应器的优化设计与反应工程学和流体动力学研究
•        实验室规模生产线的反应器设计和设备布置图
•        计算流体动力学(Computational Fluid Dynamic, CFD)用于评估与分析反应器内的气流动态
•        反应模拟(Molecular Dynamic, COMSOL)和产物形成的机理研究
•        石墨烯和氢气生产的计算和实验系统集成
•        实验验证

(3)        用于固态氢气存储系统的纳米材料研究
•        纳米材料的合成(例如金属基、碳基等)
•        固态氢气储存系统的反应器设计与设置
•        纳米材料的固态氢气储存机制

通过加入该项目,研究人员将能够探索自身的研究潜力地同时享有与马来西亚科学、技术与创新部(Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, MOSTI)、Nanomalaysia Berhad(NMB)以及马来西亚国内外企业的合作关系。

•        协助监督研究生(硕士/博士)和本科生
•        与研究生协同管理实验室的资源与任务安排
•        学习研究方面的新技能,如管理拨款支出、拨款进度报告、拨款申请、仪器培训、客座讲座等。
•        再主管低限度的指导下起草专利、归档知识产权(IP)并发表高影响力文章
•        主管可能会添加其他与研究相关职责

四,资格要求
•        化学工程/物理/化学/材料科学硕士或博士学位或同等学历
•        卓越的业绩记录和研究热情/兴趣
•        拥有卓越的智力,并拥有成为未来的学术领袖的潜力
•        在等离子体和/或微波等离子方面有丰富的研究/操作经验
•        在计算/模拟软件工具方面的经验(例如CFD、Solid Edge、COMSOL、MD、Materials Studio等)
•        纳米材料合成以及反应机制方面的研究经验
•        优秀的实验和分析能力(如气相色谱和电化学)和反应工程
•        有3d打印的实践经验(非必要条件,加分)
•        使用Blender、Autodesk或3D Max绘制3D图形(非必要条件,加分)
•        愿意前往其他的当地机构或研究机构进行表征和研究合作
•        精通英语(书面和口头沟通技能),可以以曾发表过的高影响力文章和/或专利作为证据

Microwave Plasma-Driven Methane Cracking for Graphene Nanotechnology and Hydrogen Production

Specific Job Descriptions
In line with the 12th Malaysian Plan (Rancangan Malaysia Ke-12, RMK-12), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ong Wee Jun who is the Director of the Center of Excellence for NaNo Energy & Catalysis Technology (CONNECT) at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) is eagerly looking for SEVERAL enthusiastic research talents (Research Officers, and Postdoctoral Research Fellows) for a funded sustainable energy project from the Malaysian government.

Our primary focus will be on microwave plasma-driven methane cracking for the scalable production of free-standing graphene and H2 alongside solid-state H2 storage. The project will be under the Center of Excellence for NaNo Energy & Catalysis Technology (CONNECT) at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), Nanomaterials for Energy and Catalysis (NanoECats) Group.

The special project will involve both experimental and simulation aspects:

(1)        Production of scalable and free-standing graphene and H2 from methane cracking via microwave plasma
•        Process optimization in tuning microwave plasma cracking efficiency based on different reaction conditions (e.g. reaction atmosphere, buffer/carrier gas, compositional flow rate, temperature gradient, plasma, etc.).
•        Data analysis for methane cracking performance.
•        Characterizations of product quality and quantity.
•        H2 production yield.
•        Upscaling of graphene and H2 technology.

(2)        Reaction and fluid dynamics investigation for the optimization of microwave plasma reactor design
•        Reactor design and equipment layout plan of lab-scale production line.
•        Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in evaluating gas flow condition.
•        Reaction simulation (MD, COMSOL) and product formation mechanism study.
•        Computation and system integration for graphene and H2 production.
•        Experimental validation.

(3)        Solid-state H2 storage system using nanomaterials
•        Synthesis of property-driven nanomaterials (e.g. metal-based, carbon-based, etc.).
•        Reactor design and layout for the solid-state H2 storage systems.
•        Solid-state H2 storage mechanisms using nanomaterials.

By joining the project, researchers will have a prime opportunity to explore the inner research talents with fantastic collaborative research with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), NanoMalaysia Berhad (NMB), and industry partners in Malaysia and abroad.

Job Vacancies:
Research Officers / Research Fellows / Postdoctoral Research Fellows (x3)

General Job Descriptions
•        to commit adequate time and effort to the research project
•        to fulfill tasks required by the supervisor as part of the research project
•        to manage the research tasks independently and to work efficiently towards the completion of the research project in a timely manner
•        to maintain frequent and regular contact with the supervisor on the project progress
•        to help supervise postgraduate (Master/PhD) students, Final Year Project (FYP) undergraduate students
•        to coordinate the lab arrangement/task alongside postgraduate students
•        to acquire new skills/talents/attributes required as part of the research such as managing grant expenditure, grant report progress, preparing grant applications, hands-on training of instruments, guest lecture, etc.
•        to draft patents, file intellectual properties (IPs) and publish high-impact works under the minimum guidance of the primary supervisor
•        other relevant responsibilities that may be required from time to time by the primary supervisor


Job Requirements and Qualifications
Requirements for the Research Officers / Postdoctoral Research Fellows (PRF) include:
•        Master or Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Materials Science or equivalent
•        Outstanding track records and research passion/interest
•        Possess intellectual excellence and potential to develop as a future academic leader
•        Extensive experiences in plasma and/or microwave plasma operations
•        Experiences in computational/simulation software tools (e.g. CFD, Solid Edge, COMSOL, MD, Materials Studio, etc.)
•        Experiences in synthesis of nanomaterials as well as reaction mechanisms
•        Excellent experimental and analytical skills (e.g. gas chromatography and electrochemistry) and reactor engineering
•        Have hands-on experience with 3D printing (optional, value-added)
•        3D drawing using Blender, Autodesk or 3D Max (optional, value-added)
•        Willing to travel to other local institutions and research agencies for analyses and collaboration
•        Proficient in English (written and oral communication skills) as evidenced by top-tier publications and/or patents
•        Proven ability to work independently and effectively as a part of a multidisciplinary team with strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
