PhD scholarship opportunities on software engineering and AI @Monash University

Dr Xiaoning Du is currently a lecturer in the Department of Software System and Cybersecurity, Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University. She received her PhD from Nanyang Technological University in 2020 and her bachelor’s degree from Fudan University in 2014. Xiaoning specializes in software engineering, AI, and cybersecurity. Her research has bridged the gap between the theory and practical usage of program analysis and formal methods in the evaluation of traditional and AI-assisted software systems, aiming for better quality assurance and security. Her publications appear in top-tier venues including S&P, TDSC, ICSE, FSE, ASE, NeurIPS, AAAI, and FM, and received a SIGSOFT Distinguished Award Nomination by ICSE’22. Currently, Dr Du is looking for PhD students working on the DevOps of AI software systems, which aims to regulate the development and assessment process of AI-assisted solutions, support their post-deployment operation, and guarantee high-quality, secure, trustworthy and sustainable AI services. Candidates are expected to have: - Strong background in programming and familiarity with at least one type of AI application, such as CV, NLP, ASR, and so on. Having research experience in SE, security, and AI is a plus. - Strong motivation and perseverance to pursue a PhD - Strong writing and communication skills The position is sponsored by full scholarships, which cover your tuition fee and provides a stipend of $30,000 annually for 3.5 to 4 years.
