PhD and Postdoc Openings in WICL at George Mason University

The Wireless Innovation and Cybersecurity Lab (WICL) directed by Dr. Kai Zeng (https://people-ece.vse.gmu.edu/~kzeng2) in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the George Mason University (GMU) has multiple PhD GRA (graduate research assistant) and Postdoc positions in security of 5G and NextG wireless networks, cyber-physical systems security and privacy, machine learning applications in wireless communication and cybersecurity, distributed/federated learning security and privacy, and spectrum sharing systems security and privacy. Candidates with EE or relevant backgrounds will be considered, and an earned Master degree is preferred for GRA positions. A solid background in any of the following areas is a plus: cybersecurity, 5G/6G wireless (e.g., mmWave) networking/communication, machine learning, networked control system, software defined radio, and wireless testbed development. Dr. Kai Zeng is the founder and director of WICL at GMU. He is currently an Associate Professor in the ECE department. Dr. Zeng was a recipient of the U.S. National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award. He won Excellence in Postdoctoral Research Award at University of California, Davis and Sigma Xi Outstanding Ph.D. Dissertation Award at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He has published more than 120 papers in prestigious IEEE/ACM journals and conferences. He serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security and IEEE Transactions on Cognitive Communications and Networking, and EAI Endorsed Transactions on Security and Safety. WICL is developing a NextG wireless communication testbed. GRAs and Postdocs in the lab will gain valuable hands-on experience in 5G/NextG wireless communication and security. |
