Postdoc position in Cardiac signaling program at USC

|
The cardiac signaling center is a joint venture between the university of south carolina, the medical university of south carolina, and clemson university and is devoted to performing cutting-edge research at the intersection of basic science and clinical medicine. the center is led by its founding director dr. martin morad who was appointed by the south carolina legislature in 2008 as the blue cross blue shield endowed chair in cardiovascular health. under dr. morad’s leadership the center has increasingly drawn funding from both private and public sources and continues to attract world-class faculty and research fellows. Dr. morad is an internationally recognized scientist in the field of cardiac electrophysiology and calcium signaling, specifically in the area of calcium-binding proteins. the cardiac muscle is a complex system composed of 40,000 proteins. these proteins "tell" the heart how to contract and how fast; they also control how heart muscle grows and regenerates. calcium acts as a signaling mechanism in the function of thesec proteins. dr. morad seeks to discover what causes these calcium signaling mechanisms to stop working properly, which can result in congestive heart failure. understanding this process could lead to new therapeutic approaches to treat congestive heart failure and other conditions. his work could lead to the world's first tissue-derived human heart pacemaker. a biological pacemaker derived from genetically engineered cells has great commercial viability as a replacement for current pacemaker technology made from artificial materials. Job purpose: Under general supervision, performs new experimental procedures using human induced pluripotent stem cells to gain novel insights into human cardiovascular pathology. introduces point mutations in the genome of human induced pluripotent stem cells (hipsc) by crispr/cas9 gene editing techniques, differentiates the correctly targeted cells into cardiac muscles, and characterizes the cardiac disease pathology molecularly and electrophysiologically. demonstrates commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations. this position is established in support of expanded research activities. if you are interested, please check more information on group websites at: https://medicine.musc.edu/depart ... -center/lab-members and https://sc.edu/study/colleges_sc ... ff/morad_martin.php please send your resume or any related questions at email: jiajia748@126.com. thank you. |
