imdea materials institute is a public research organization founded in 2007 by madrid’s regional government to carry out research of excellence in material science and engineering by attracting talent from all over the world to work in an international and multidisciplinary environment. imdea materials has grown rapidly since its foundation and currently includes more than 120 researchers from 22 nationalities and has become one of the leading research centers in materials in europe which has received the maría de maeztu seal of excellence from the spanish government. the research activities have been focused on the areas of materials for transport, energy, and health care and the institute has state-of-the-art facilities for processing, characterization and simulation of advanced materials. more information can be found at https://materials.imdea.org/

DESCRIPTION
this is a research project focusing on the study of fire safety li-battery, funded by the national project. the research tasks include to develop new polymer electrolytes and flame retardants for the new generation li-battery. following up this main topic, the candidate will contribute to developing new strategies (e.g., electrolyte, electrode, separator, collector, etc.) for high performance fire-safe li-battery. the host research group has solid experience on the flame retardants and the state-of-the-art facilities on fabricating battery and the fire tests in the lab scale.

REQUIREMENTS
phd in a discipline related to materials science, chemistry, and/or nanotechnology, and experience in developing, fabricating and characterizing li-battery in the lab level. strong interest in experimental work is essential.
previous experience on development and characterization of electrolytes, separator or electrode applied to li-battery will be positively evaluated.
command of written and spoken english is mandatory.

PROCEDURE
the selecting procedure will begin immediately, and promising candidates will be invited for an initial interview via zoom, even before the closing date. the vacancy will remain published until april 30th, 2022, or until filled. interested candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to ensure best consideration of their application.

CONDITIONS
the expected starting date is in may 2022 (depending on availability), starting with one-year contract.
the position includes a full-time contract (31000 euro/year) with social security coverage.
