香港理工大学岩石力学实验室拟招一至两名岩石、地质力学方向博士生（2022年9月入学）

Geomechanics - Funded PhD Opportunities The Rock Lab at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has multiple immediate PhD positions (Application deadline: 25 February 2022), which are anticipated to start in September 2022 at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Successful candidates will be working on projects of numerical simulation and/or laboratory experiments related to interdisciplinary research of geomechanics and geophysics problems on Earth and celestial bodies. The Rock Lab at PolyU is dedicated to advancing innovative solutions in rock mechanics and geophysics. We are actively engaged in research activities related to carbon neutrality and deep space exploration. PolyU’s Civil Engineering is ranked 2nd globally in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Global Universities Rankings 2022. Successful candidates will have a strong background in at least one of the following areas: geomechanical modelling, experimental rock mechanics, time series data analysis, and machine learning. The candidates should also feel comfortable in algorithm implementation, data acquisition and processing in at least one of MATLAB, Python and R. Knowledge of the hybrid finite discrete element method (FDEM) is an asset. A research-based master’s degree with dissertation in a relevant field is preferred but not required.
