PhD Positions in Advanced Manufacturing and Materials Processing: Iowa State University, Fall 2022 Job Description: Advanced Manufacturing and Materials Processing Laboratory in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at the Iowa State University has two fully funded PhD openings starting fall 2022 for candidates with background in materials science, manufacturing, mechanical engineering, applied physics, and related area. The PhD students will conduct research in the following areas: 1. Additive manufacturing (3D printing) 2. Laser shock processing 3. Nano/micro-manufacturing of smart materials. 4. Advanced materials processing towards applications in supercapacitors and batteries. 5. Manufacturing process simulation and multiscale materials modeling. Requirements for PhD Student: BS/MS degree in materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, or a closely related field. MS is preferred.
