[交流] 澳大利亚阿德莱德大学招收光学微腔、克尔光梳方向相关博士生,2022年入学

precision measurement group (pmg) at the institute for photonics and advanced sensing (ipas) at the university of adelaide is looking for phd students working on projects centered on microresonator-based nonlinear photonics and sensing.

the projects focus on: 1) using ultrahigh-q optical microresonators (based on either whispering gallery mode resonators or fiber bragg grating cavities) to generate ultrastable nonlinear oscillations for optical/terahertz ranging and long-range frequency standard transfer; 2) using electro-optic microresonators to develop novel approaches for ultra-sensitive radiofrequency detection and low-noise microwave-to-optical conversion; 3) combining fiber laser cavities and microresonators to generate optical frequency combs and to explore novel nonlinear dynamics.

these projects are mainly experimental, but theoretical skills and numerical simulation techniques are often needed. the students are expected to become highly skilled applied physicists and/or engineers. the potential students will be supervised by dr wenle weng and prof andre luiten for ~3.5 years, with scholarships either externally funded (e.g., csc) or supported by the university of adelaide and the australian government.
