One fully funded PhD position is available in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), in the area of structural health monitoring and structural engineering. About the position: To improve infrastructure resilience, quantitative information of the infrastructural damage is required. Recent advances in computational mechanics and sensing technologies provide new opportunities to address this pressing issue. The objective of the PhD project is to quantify structural damage by combining advanced simulation with state-of-art sensing technologies. Your profile: • You have a master's or bachelor's degree in structural engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering or related fields. • A strong background in mechanics and mathematics is required. • Strong background in continuum mechanics or finite element method is of advantage. • You are proficient in spoken and written English. We offer: A challenging position at HKUST, which is one of the top Asian universities in engineering and technology (https://hkust.edu.hk/zh-hans/about/rankings). The Postgraduate Studentship is HK$18,030 per month. Excellent candidates will also be recommended to apply for The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme, which offers a yearly stipend of HK$322,800.
