Monash I-DMD 2022 Fall intake

Monash University is a public research university based in Melbourne, Australia. Founded in 1958, it is the second oldest university in the State of Victoria. It ranks 40th in best global universities in US NEWS and 58th in QS world university ranking in 2022. Intelligent Digital Manufacturing and Design Lab (I-DMD) at Monash is actively seeking Ph.D. students and visiting PhD students who are interested in digital manufacturing techniques including CNC and Additive Manufacturing, design optimisation, digital twins, CAD/CAM, smart architectured/composite/hybrid materials design and fabrication, robotics assisted manufacturing. Our research focuses on these core techniques in the field of smart manufacturing which can creates high added value products through the integration of conception, design, manufacturing, and sustainment. Our vision is to develop next generation digital techniques and materials that can make a better and sustainable world. To achieve this vision, our research is across both two departments in the Faculty of Engineering at Monash: Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering. Students in I-DMD can access the cutting edge research facilities in both two departments such as Monash Smart Manufacturing Hub and Monash Centre of Additive Manufacturing. We are seeking multidisciplinary students to lead our research in this exciting and fast-moving field. Students who are interested in those fields are highly wanted: a) AI driven product design and optimisation. (b) Digitally design and fabrication of hybrid/architectured materials.
