United Technologies Research Center (China) Ltd. invites qualified individuals to apply for the following position in the Shanghai office. This position will compensate the chosen candidate at the local Shanghai market wage rate, and benefits will be administered based on local Shanghai benefit practices. “Power Electronics: PE Application Specialist” Job Requirements: * Solid background and experience in design, modeling, analysis, simulation and control of power electronic equipment, energy storage, drives, sustainable energy sources and complex electrical and power systems. * Particular areas of expertise include converter topologies, semiconductor power switches, design of integrated magnetic structures, fuel cells and batteries, electromagnetic emission and interference, and power quality. * Hands-on implementation skills in integrated alternative energy systems with existing power grids. * Provide timely, accurate and detailed reports and presentations Preferred Candidates will possess the following: * Master or Ph.D in electrical engineering or a related area. * 2-5 years experience in power electronics applications. * Knowledge of power electronic equipment and energy storage. * In-depth knowledge of alternative energy systems and integration with existing power grids. * Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in both China and USA * Fluent English (both written and spoken) and excellent communication skills FOR FURTHER INFORMATION OR TO SUBMIT CREDENTIALS PLEASE CONTACT gputrcchinarecruit@utrc.utc.com “Research Engineer: Fuel Cell System Modeling” Job Requirements: * Perform innovative research and development (R&D) in a multidisciplinary area of fuel cell systems. * Develop system level steady-state and dynamic models including electrochemical devices, mechanical devices, and chemical reactors. * Analyze complex interacting systems and demonstrate rigorous understanding of the interplay of various subsystems. Minimum Qualifications Required: * MS or PhD in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or related discipline * Fluent English (both written and spoken) and excellent communication skills * Technical breadth and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in both China and USA * Strong expertise in one of the areas of chemical, mechanical, and electrochemical areas with working knowledge of other areas is required Preferred Candidates will possess the following: * MS or Ph.D. in Chemical / Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of professional experience * Demonstrated ability to lead and work as part of a multidisciplinary team * Strong expertise in steady-state and dynamic modeling/simulation * Expertise in model development software tools such as gPROMs. * Solid technical writing, presentation, project management and communication skills * Strong leadership skills and an entrepreneurial attitude towards innovation FOR FURTHER INFORMATION OR TO SUBMIT CREDENTIALS PLEASE CONTACT gputrcchinarecruit@utrc.utc.com “Senior Research Engineer: Thermo-Fluid System Dynamic Modeling” Job Description: * Provide expertise in heat transfer, thermodynamics and thermal management systems analysis. * Identify and develop new opportunities with UTC business units focused on new technology validation and product development. * Control-oriented thermo-fluid system dynamic modeling, including physics-based model development, model calibration, model validation and analyses. Minimum Qualifications Required: * MS or PhD degree in Mechanical or Thermal Engineering with 0-3 year experience. * Fluent English (both written and spoken) and excellent communication skills. * Heat transfer and two-phase flow expertise and thermodynamic cycle analytical skills. * Experience with vapor-compression refrigeration or power generation systems including related components: heat exchangers and compression technologies. Preferred Qualification: * MS or Ph.D. in Mechanical or Thermal Engineering with 4+ years of professional experience. * Expertise in model development software tools like Dymola, Matlab/Simulink. * Experience in thermo-fluid system control development * Demonstrated ability to lead and work as part of a multidisciplinary team. * Solid technical writing, presentation, project management and communication skills. * Strong leadership skills and an entrepreneurial attitude towards innovation. Minimum Qualifications Required: * MS or PhD degree in Mechanical or Control Engineering with 1-3 year experience. * Fluent English (both written and spoken) and excellent communication skills. * Experience with vapor-compression or power generation systems including related components: heat exchangers and compression technologies. * Experience with system identification, control system architecture and algorithm development Preferred Qualifications: * MS or Ph.D. in Mechanical or Control Engineering with 4+ years of professional experience. * Working knowledge of Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow and (or) Modelica/Dymola * Experience with model-based control development, including rapid prototyping implementation * Demonstrated ability to lead and work as part of a multidisciplinary team. * Solid technical writing, presentation, project management and communication skills. * Strong leadership skills and an entrepreneurial attitude towards innovation.
