[About the Research Group]
Dr. Zongmin Zhao’s Lab at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), College of Pharmacy is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the interdisciplinary research team. The Zhao Lab focuses on innovating immunoengineering, cellular engineering, and drug delivery technologies to develop therapeutics for treating different diseases including cancer, infectious diseases, inflammation, drug addictions, and autoimmune diseases. Current projects in the Zhao Lab exploit genetic engineering, synthetic biology, immunology, biomaterials, and nanomedicine approaches to create translatable cellular therapeutics and immunotherapeutics. The PI’s work has been published in top journals including Cell, Nature Biomedical Engineering, Science Advances, PNAS, Advanced Materials, Biomaterials, Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews et al. [About the Postdoc Position]
We have an opening for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow in the areas of cellular engineering, immunoengineering, and drug delivery. The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to lead scientific projects and participate in grant writing, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and lab management.

[Qualifications]
1) Ph.D. degree in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline by the time of appointment.
2) Expertise in two or more of the following areas: Viral or non-viral vector-based genetic engineering, gene editing, immunoengineering, cell therapy, biomaterials, microfluidics, computational Modeling, cancer research, animal models, drug delivery, and nanomedicine. Preference will be given to candidates who have background or trainings in immunology, cell biology, or molecular biology.
3) Additional expertise in in vivo experiments, mammalian cell culture, PCR, western blotting, flow cytometry, and molecular biology techniques will be preferable.
4) Strong track record of publications in high-impact journals.
5) Self-motivated and well organized. Strong oral and written communication skills. Be able to conduct research independently and to work collaboratively with other fellows and students in the lab.
