About Prof. K.C. Chan Professor K.C. Chan is Head of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has published over 270 papers in international journals (more than 4300 citations), secured more than 15 external research grants (including CERG/GRF and ITF) in the field of materials science and engineering. His research interests include 1) Phase transformation, oxidation and corrosion behavior, catalysis, magnetic behavior, magnetocacloric effect, magnetostriction effect, room temperature plasticity, biocompatibility and superplastic deformation of a number of amorphous alloys and composites; 2) Synthesis, characterization, mechanical and deformation behavior of nanostructural materials, and composites using experiment approach and molecular dynamics modeling; 3) Functional materials and their applications.
