PhD Positions in Mechanical Engineering, University of Oklahoma - Spring/Summer/Fall 2022 Description The Energy Systems and Controls Lab (ESCL) directed by Assistant Professor Dong Zhang at University of Oklahoma is looking for 1-2 highly motivated PhD students. Our lab develops battery monitoring and control software/algorithms to improve capacity, safety, and charging of electric vehicle batteries. The objective is to increase usable capacity and enhance charging rates by improving the ability to estimate battery health in real-time, to predict and manage the impact of charge and discharge cycles on battery health, and to minimize battery degradation. Desirable backgrounds include mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, systems engineering, materials engineering, and physics.
