One postdoctoral position in the field of the tumor microenvironment is available in Dr. Jing Yang’s lab at Houston Methodist Cancer Center, Houston Methodist Research Institute. The fellow is being recruited for projects aimed at identifying biomarkers for therapeutic targets in multiple myeloma. The overarching goal of Dr. Yang’s translational research program is to study the mechanism underlying the pathogenesis of multiple myeloma. The lab currently focusing on the interaction of tumor cells with adipocytes, the association of obesity and cancer, and the role of the bone marrow microenvironment in chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and bone metastasis. These studies aim to provide novel and potential therapeutic targets and tools for the treatment of myeloma patients. Please refer to our recent publications for more information (Science Translational Medicine 8(353):353ra113, 2016. PMID: 275590962016; Science Translational Medicine 11(494), 2019. We seek a highly motivated and independent candidate who has a recent Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree with less than two years of postdoctoral experience in one or more of the following areas: molecular/cellular biology, metabolism, immunology, tumor metastasis, and bone disease research. A candidate with a solid molecular biology background is preferred. The pay scale follows the NIH guidelines. A track record of excellent first-author publication during Ph.D. training is essential. Applications, including curriculum vitae, the contact information of three references, and a summary of accomplishments should be sent to Dr. Jing Yang: jyang2@houstonmethodist.org.
