Xin Tu is Chair Professor of Plasma Catalysis in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the University of Liverpool. He has been working for many years on interdisciplinary research at the interface of plasma science and chemical engineering directed towards environmental clean-up, fuel and chemical synthesis, and nuclear decommissioning. Significant efforts have been devoted to plasma-catalysis where the combination of cold plasma and heterogeneous catalysis has been used as a promising and emerging low-temperature process for the oxidation of gas pollutants (e.g. VOCs and PAHs) in waste gas streams and for the conversion of carbon and nitrogen sources into value-added fuels and chemicals such as CH4 activation, CO2 conversion, nitrogen fixation, biomass conversion and heavy oils cracking. Prof. Tu has published over 130 peer-reviewed papers in leading international journals including Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Appl. Catal. B and ACS Catal., one Springer book and four book chapters, and has given over 40 invited talks at international conferences. He has chaired three international conferences and served as a member of the Scientific/Advisory Board for several international conferences and consortia. We seek to recruit two enthusiastic, highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associates (PDRAs) to work on a project focused on plasma catalysis for the synthesis of fuels and chemicals. The project will require you to demonstrate ability in the design, synthesis and characterisation of advanced catalytic materials for plasma-catalytic chemical reactions. Research experience in heterogeneous catalysis, plasma catalysis, electrocatalysis or photocatalysis for C1 chemistry or biomass conversion is essential. You should have a PhD (or near completion) degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or closely-related subject. To fulfil all the deliverables of the project, you will work closely with team members as well as external collaborators. You should therefore be enthusiastic in the discipline, committed, and motivated with an aptitude for independent working as well as working as part of a diverse, interdisciplinary team. Both positions are available for 12 months. One of these positions should start as early as possible from 21st June 2021 and the other position should start no later than 1st February 2022. https://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/CGR07 ... sis-grade-7-2-posts |
